B A N D - A I D

Remember when you were a kid and you used to put BAND-AIDS on everything? They were kind of like a status symbol, like: "hey im tough, and I get down and dirty". Even now, retailers sell all sorts of cool looking band-aids with SKULLS, hello kitty, sparkles...anything you can think of. We recently came across such a clever idea we couldn't resist sharing it. Graphic designer RODRIGO ALONSO has created a jewelry line full of surprises and irony. According to his website, Rodrigo Alonso Schramm is a:

Graphic designer, with recognized experience in the world of publicity. Noticeable academic of different universities and workshops in Chile and Latin America. Has worked in the image of large international brands as Renault, Lucky Strike, Warner Bros, Sony among others. Creator of the studio-laboratory Müsuc.

The First Aids Ring is a uniquely IN YOUR FACE piece that seems like something anyone would come up with, but we havent seen anything like it before. other pieces include a ring resembling a broken CONDOM, symbolizing risk and trust. There is also a necklace resembling a LOLLIPOP, where the stick is sterling silver and the "pop" is actually candy. You have to eat the candy to find the jewel. It's supposed to be a SENSUAL process "especially if you are in front of who gave it to you".

We love this stuff, especially the symbolisim...check the rest out on the WEBSITE

One of our must haves for the summer are wooden heels. Were not talking about 4 INCH stilletoe's ( which we LOVE to death), more like 2 or 3 inches. Anyways, some of our favourite's come from APC and a brand we recently discovered, SWEDISH HASBEENS. Both are in the TWO HUNDRED dollar range, which is do-able, but both brands provide high quality products so we dont feel so bad. Opting out of our usual BLACK, we're dying for the NUDE leather APC heels. The leather on these kind of remind us of the natural untreated leather used on many LOUIS VUITTON handbags. These will go with any outfit- casual or dressy, this summer. Shorts? no problem. Dress? great! Pants? go for it! Seriously, these are awesome! The French label (you know we love EVERYTHING French) has already nailed the denim department and they now seem to have gotten shoes down as well; everything they do has such class. Swedish Hasbeens apparently specializes in the wooden heel and provides all different styles using different colored leather. Our personal favourite are the "Peep Toe Super High" in silver. These shoes are killer and have a little more pizazz than the APC one's...but still, both rock it.

Just a few weeks ago, tattoo artist SCOTT CAMPBELL unveiled his first art show to the beautiful people of MIAMI. The show consisted of stacks of one dollar bills cut by lasers to form images like the one above. obviously the skull is our favourite so we don't even need to get into that... So, does Scott Campbell ring a bell? It should, he's one of the most beloved tattoo artists in the fashion and art world and he has tattooed such designers and celebrities as MARC JACOBS, Vera Wang, Helena Christensen and the late, great HEATH LEDGER. He's so in-demand that apparently his waiting list is five years! Guess we'll have to put our names down now. Anyways, here are a few more pictures of his work from the show...pretty rad we have to say.

No. 5

CHANEL No. 5 is if not the best then one of the best perfumes in the world. It has a classic scent, is TIMELESS and was idolized by legendary people such as Marilyn Monroe and Andy Warhol. Chanel No. 5 is the only perfume we wear, and we are damn proud of it. Today, a new short film advertising No. 5 DEBUTED and we were more than ecstatic with the results. Jean-Pierre Jeunet, the director of the film Amelie, and Audrey Tautou, team up for a fantastic, and intriguing two minute fantasy ride. We dont think Jenunet could have chosen a better actress to convey the essence of the late, great COCO CHANEL. We also PRAISE Jeunet for being able to put such detail and life into the story while only making the film a bit over two minutes long. Unbelievable. You can watch behind the scenes and a history on No.5 HERE Now we'll shut up so you can watch this epic film and see for yourselves.
