P L A S T I C

While doing some not so innocent looking at ELUXURY last night, we stumbled upon a pair of completely unique shoes with a PRICE TAG we couldn't believe (or resist). The Vinyl II Mary Janes Wedges By MELISSA, a company based in BRAZIL, are one hot pair of shoes. They are made of all plastic and supposedly smell like candy. We particularly like them in GREY, even though we usually prefer almost everything in BLACK. For NINETY NINE dollars, we think they are a great price, not to mention that the company is economically FRIENDLY.

For our BOYS, we are in love with ANDROID HOMME, a company based in LOS ANGELES that seems to specialize in menswear and joins luxury with street wear. We especially like their PROPULSION HI sneaker in BLACK HOLE, made of patent leather (one of our favourites). These are something we would even wear, we love them THAT much. Unfortunately they aren't as price friendly as our beloved wedges above: they go for a pricey $219...not exactly breaking the bank, but not something to buy on a whim. However, we do feel that these are worth it, and they come in a couple other colors too, In this case we do favor the BLACK.

Something we started wondering the other day was: what the hell happened to all the good hip-hop music? And NO we are not taking the whole NAS- HIP HOP IS DEAD route, we're just saying we haven't heard anything GOOD lately. Maybe we haven't been LOOKING hard enough, and just MAYBE, we've had our head buried in the sand like our little wooden friend up there. Ok, we'll admit it, we haven't been so focused on hip hop. Time to get BACK into it, get back in the game! WEEZY has been missing from our lives after all.

If you guys have anything we've been in the dark about, let us know! The search for that really good track has started!
Enjoy one of our favourite hip hop songs below...its an "oldie but a goodie". We know, corny...

OKAY, so we are at home squished BETWEEN our desk and bed like a sardine, listening to our entire music collection on shuffle. Why? you ask. We're painting our bedroom so everything is moved to the middle of the room. BORING, we know, so we'll move on the the reason why you're HERE: to get some kind of interesting cultural information. Right???

There's this one song we really like, called SHE DID ME, by an artist who calls himself GAZELLE, whom we don't know much about, but we know it's fucking CATCHY. Its pure disco bliss. What we do know about GAZELLE, is from his myspace:

with a completely unique take and The Urban African chic scene, Gazelle is crossing the divides between Electro, disco, funk and pop, a colorful fashion palette and a sense of pride in what African contemporary music, art and fashion can become. Gazelle is scene definition in action.

Sounds pretty good to us! Enjoy SHE DID ME below!

P.S. We forgot to mention above that it's 8:45 pm here and we wrote this complete post in the dark!, something about the world turning their lights out for an hour? We hope you all did it too!

The HYPE for the new ROYKSOPP album, JUNIOR has been like no other. We have to admit we had it weeks before and thoroughly enjoyed it. Some of our favourite songs off the album are VISION ONE, TRICKY TRICKY, and HAPPY UP HERE. But, we have to say that our favourite thing to come from the album is the BOYS NOIZE remix of HAPPY UP HERE. It's erie, synthetic, and hypnotic; all of which make a great combination. Here's where we might cause some controversy: we aren't CRAZY for the album. We dont feel about JUNIOR the way we do about CROSS or even I CREATED DISCO (which rocked our summer of '07). Yes, they have some great collaborations such as ROBYN and LYKKE LI, but its not something we're playing on repeat. maybe it's our own personal taste in music, who knows...it's good but not AMAZING. We guess thats what makes us DIFFERENT.

On a lighter note, Enjoy the BOYS NOIZE remix of HAPPY UP HERE...we know we do.

YES, it has been a while my friends, but G O L D S K U L L has come off of its hiatus! Much has happened while we've been away: a new year has come, the sun has come out, the fashion houses debuted their SRPING/SUMMER 2009 collections, and most importantly, NEW MUSIC has been made! Before posting some tracks that have kept our attention at hand for a couple months, we thought it would be best to do a follow up post to the SIMIAN MOBILE DISCO show that we went to on MARCH 16, 2009 (see previous post)

We had been waiting to see SIMIAN MOBILE DISCO for months and when the day came, we couldn't be happier.

The lights went out, the curtain went up, and the crowd went silent. Then, BAM! THEY appeared and we witnessed an hour and a half of pure bliss. Experiencing them live is on a whole different level than listening to them on your computer or in the car...even at a club. SIMAIN MOBILE DISCO delivered the whole package: the light show was hypnotic, their set was perfect for the mood, and their overall presence was an out of this world experience. Not to mention, the price was just right! ($20!!!). We can definetly say we'd do the whole thing over again!

Below, you can experience some SIMIAN MOBILE DISCO live, for yourself, courtesy of our blackberry video camera!
